The company behind Best City Places
Systems are judged when conditions get bad.
DevSolid is the company that designs and publishes Best City Places, the city companion that works even offline. It builds on more than twenty years of architecture for regulated systems, where real money moves and every action has to stand up to an audit.

A note from the founder
Why I work this way.
I have spent more than twenty years in systems where an outage is counted in real money and every action has to be explained to a regulator. You learn quickly there that software is not judged on demo day, but on the day things get complicated.
That is the standard DevSolid brings to its clients, and the one we hold ourselves to with Best City Places: a city app that has to keep working where you actually need it — out in the street, with no signal.
I founded DevSolid to build that way, for the long run.

Our product · Best City Places
The best of every city, at the right time.
Exploring a city is still harder than it should be. Too many apps. Too much fragmentation. And very little that still works once you are actually out there — no signal, an unfamiliar language, no time to research.
Best City Places is one app that holds up all the way through, from the first idea of a trip to the moment you are standing in the street.
A selection, not a directory — and no recommendation is for sale.

Being open is not the same as being worth your time. The weather, the hour, the season, how long you have, what makes sense right after what you have just done.

A city is not only a destination. It is a territory with its own goals.
Spreading visitor flows, extending the season, bringing value back to the villages behind the coast. Best City Places is built for the traveller first — and that is exactly what makes it worth something to the people who run these places.

What Best City Places demanded of us
Offline by design
Once a city is downloaded, the map, routes, timetables and recommendations work with no network.
Sourced content, in twelve languages
Every place goes through a production and verification chain before it is published, then goes out in twelve languages.
Web today, Android next
The website is live. The Android app is in preparation, on the same content.
Tested and documented
Around 30,000 automated tests and a documented architecture: the product does not rest on one person's memory.
